  6. You've downloaded a fully functional text-to-speech (spanish language) activeX control.
  7. You can use it in the applications you develop. Full version includes English and German.

  11. Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 (VB5 runtime files minimum)

  13. 16Mb RAM (better 24Mb RAM)

  18. INSTALLATION:

  20. Unzip your downloaded file, run setup and that's it... 
  21. You shouldn't have any trouble installing PCTALK1E, but in case you do, just contact me.

  41. PCTALK1E PROPERTIES:
  42.  
  43. -Duration: depending upon your need you can either have a faster speech with less pronunciation
  44.  quality or slower speech with better quality of pronunciation.
  45.  The typical range stretches from 0.2 to 4 (the larger this value the slowest the speech
  46.  you get). 
  47.  
  48. -Volumen: you can control the volume of your speech (typical values 1 to 32000).
  49.  
  50. -Phrase: this property contains the string of letters which are transformed into speech.
  51.  Variables assigned to this property must be string type ones.
  52.  
  53. -namewavfile: filename of the .wav file. Defaulted to "c:\". For example if you want to name
  54.  your file "myfile", you assign to the property namewavfile the string "myfile" (without the
  55.  .wav extension) and your file will be created in "c:\myfile.wav". If you want to use another
  56.  subdirectory like "c:\windows\media", assign to the property namewavfile the string
  57.  "windows\media\myfile" (without the .wav extension).

  59. -language: Assign a zero "0" for Spanish
  60.            Assign a one  "1" for English (only registered version)
  61.            Assign a two  "2" for German (only registered version)

  63. PCTALK1E METHODS:
  64.  
  65. -Listentext: this is the method that actually converts text into speech.
  66.  Make sure to have assigned proper values to the duration, volumen and phrase properties
  67.  before using this method.

  69. -makewavfile: this method converts the string in the phrase property into the .wav file.
  70.  Make sure to have assigned a proper filename to the namewavfile property before using this
  71.  method.

  73. EXAMPLE PROYECT:

  75. There's an example proyect which uses PCTALK1. Just place the mouse pointer over the controls
  76. of the form to listen to what their tooltiptext property contains.

  80. There are 2 wav files with samples of the English and German languages.
